Principal's Update

Hello Trevilians Families,

Here is the Trevilians Eagles Preview for the week of August 29-September 2.

This week, our students on our buses will participate in a bus evacuation drill in order to make sure they understand and practice the correct way to evacuate the bus in case of an emergency.

Don’t forget that there will be no school next Monday, September 5, in honor of Labor Day.

As you know, each year our students are offered an opportunity to participate in local service projects on asynchronous learning days. Our first service project to celebrate Constitution Day is just around the corner on Wednesday, September 14. Be on the lookout for a family letter explaining this excellent event coming home with students this week!

You may have noticed some information that came home last week about a new program here at TES titled “Eagles Emphasize.”  “Eagles Emphasize” is a way for students and staff to focus on several important themes throughout the year, and we are starting out this year with citizenship.  The Parent Connection Newsletter we sent home explains the program and provides some ways that you can reinforce citizenship at home.  As part of this program, we are also recognizing students who show acts of citizenship here at school.  We rolled out these new “Student Shout-outs” on Friday, so some of you may have seen a “Shout-out” certificate come home with your student.  We plan to acknowledge students with “Shout-outs” a few times each week, and this will consist of announcing their name on the Morning Announcements and sending home a certificate.  We look forward to highlighting all of the ways that our students are showing good citizenship here at TES.

Another piece of our “Eagles Emphasize” program is our Soar Summit, which is our school-wide Community Meeting.  We will have three or four of these during the year, and we will focus on an activity that represents our “Eagles Emphasize” theme.  Our first Soar Summit will take place on Friday, September 16, when we will discuss citizenship and also celebrate Constitution Day.  As part of this Soar Summit, we would like to encourage students to wear red, white, and blue, and we will also have a culminating activity that shows how little things can add up to a really big thing.  In order to help us with this, we would like to ask each student to bring in one canned food/non-perishable item (no glass containers please) before September 15.  We will display these at our Soar Summit and then donate them to the Louisa Resource Council.  We are excited to have our students do something that will make a difference in our community!

We would like to thank everyone who has participated in the Schoolstore fundraiser so far.  Students can continue to turn in their information in order to receive their prize.  So far, you all have generously donated over $2,000 to our teachers that they can use for items for their classrooms!  Our teachers greatly appreciate your support.  Don’t forget, you can also shop at Schoolstore.net, and some of the proceeds from your order will go to TES.

We hope you all had a great weekend, and we hope you have an excellent week this week!
