Principal's Update

Hello Trevilians Families,

Here is the Trevilians Eagles Preview for the week of August 17-21.

We hope you all had a great first week of school!  All of our students did an excellent job of getting back into the routine here at TES, and parents, we want to thank you for all you did to prepare your child for the beginning of the school year.

This week, our students will continue to practice our emergency drills and procedures.  We will have another fire drill this week, and our 1st-5th graders will participate in a lockdown drill.  Our PK and KG students will participate in a lockdown drill later in the year.  Teachers will review the procedures for each drill with students before they participate in the drills.

Here are a few reminders as we head into our first 5-day week of the year:

  • Due to our need to account for all students’ allergy and health needs, we will not be able to accept outside food (for events like birthday parties) until Wednesday, September 2.

  •  We also want to clarify the division’s policy regarding students returning to school after they are sick.  Students must be free from a fever and vomiting for 36 hours before returning to school.

  • Mrs. Blanchard, our PE teacher, would like to let all students know that they should wear tennis shoes/sneakers on their Physical Education day.  This is designed to help keep all students safe.  On PE days, Crocs, sandals, flip flops, and shoes with high heels should not be worn.  If you do not know already, your student’s teacher will let you know the PE day for your student.

  • If you need to change your child’s dismissal plan for the day, please call the office before 2:00.  We need enough time to relay the changes to the appropriate staff, including the teacher and bus driver, and calling late in the school day makes it difficult for that  to happen.

  • For dismissal and arrival, please enter the parking lot through the tennis court entrance and follow the line to the front of the building.  For safety purposes, please do not try to park in the front lot and walk into the building during these times.  Also, please do not park in the bus lot parking lot at any time during the school day.

  • If you have not completed the online back-to-school paperwork for your returning student, please do so as soon as possible.  This will provide us with the most accurate information pertaining to your child, including phone numbers, emergency contacts, and pick-up information.

  • Finally, if you would like to purchase device insurance and haven’t already done so, please send in your $20 as soon as possible.  The window for being able to purchase the device insurance will be closing soon, so don’t forget to take care of that if you choose to do so.

We also have some information from out PTA this week:

  • The PTA is selling spirit wear!  Please follow the link provided in the email or follow the PTA on Facebook for more information. Orders must be placed by September 4th.

https://teseagles.itemorder.com/

  • The annual birthday marquee is up and running!  Click on the provided link and for $10, your child's name will be on the school marquee for their birthday week! If you have any questions, reach out to your PTA! https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/birthday-marquee-13

  • The PTA would also like to invite you to the first general meeting of the year. The meeting will take place on September 1st at 6:00 PM in the school cafeteria!  Here you will be able to volunteer for upcoming events and see how you can be more involved in your PTA!

We hope you all have a great first 5-day week of school!  If you have any questions or if we can help you in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
